Dalton the central songwriter presented the songs to the bandmates. Yet, with all the bandmates and their colorful combined artistry and talent in the recorded performances do we find the uniqueness that develope’s the style and sound of Bluenotecat Music. Rockabilly & Rock N' Roll exemplifies the variety of modern day Rockabilly music however casting a look back at the hep kats of yesterday. "Gone To TwangCity Bonafide The Trio Version" is a concept album of eight songs in the style of Traditional American Rock N’ Roll lending to LA influences and the California Rock N' Roll sound. And with the sounds of the yesteryears too.
All the songs are composed from the real life experiences of Dalton the Royal Prince of Songs, with performance by Greg the Supreme Master Of The Tiger Drums and Djordje the King Of Jump, Jive, Slap and Swing. The Bluenotecats A Modern Rockabilly Trio.. Fourteen years ago Dalton Piercey and Greg Gallup met at an open call audition for the Bluenotecats and formed the beginning of the Rockabilly Trio. Soon Djordje Stijepovic the Master Slap Bassist showed up on the scene in 2004 and the trio played for three years with Djordje. The time soon arrived when the “Hot Kat” from Serbia would make his talent known and opportunities to tour with other musicians would be offered. However Djordje recorded two albums worth of music with Dalton and Greg before he could no longer ignore the demand for his talent. The drummer and guitarist continued on with the Bluenotecats performing with various sub-bassists and concentrating on the production of the recordings. Yet, Dalton and Greg continued to keep working on the recordings. Djordje was called to record Bass for some additional tracks in 2010. The bandmate was down for the visit. In the meantime Greg got an offer to perform with a Honky Tonk band, so Greg made a move to Chico, California. Djordje found his way to L.A. and Greg moved to Portland. Now in 2020 with Lead Vocals complete, the mastering finished to completion the ever popular Trio is releasing two albums of original music in the Rockabilly and Traditional Rock N’ Roll Genre’.
The Trio with these three Kats are the nucleus of the music they play and remain so today. Since it's inception the Bluenotecats have done many shows. From small clubs and pubs to outdoor venue's with every music venue in between. What can we call the Bluenotecats? Where do they fit into the Rockabilly Genre’? Seriously they can play every thread of style and form in the Rockabilly genre’. With a American Music roots background combined with Djordje’s European experience of Rockabilly genre’s they easily create a mix of the styles of Rockabilly delivering a unique and original identifiable sound. We could simply offer that they are a Modern Rockabilly Trio with a encompassing gathering of Americana forms.
As of this posting Djordje is on tour with Tiger Army, Greg is a forming member of the Real Gone Trio in Portland and Dalton is mastering the Bluenotecats music. These Kats can Slap, Jive, jump and Swing all the sounds and styles of Rockabilly music for their diverse audiences that at times are Standing Room Only. A surprise may come one day when the trio rejoins to give to fans, friends and family that ever popular stye of their music.
Stay tuned! To our fans past and present we thank you for your support! Dalton.....
From the beginning with the compositions gathering in my catalog I had taken so many wrong turns and life on life's terms was a cruel master for me. I could not see how good my songs were because at the local level for music, in the "pits" as we say in the music business I could never manage the right people to work with. That could see or hear my vision in my songs.
Then I met Mighty Mike Caceres a wonderful and very cool Kat who was hip to the Rockabilly scene. I was interested in the genre'. I was exposed to it when I was a Senior College Grad at Sonoma State University. Though when Mike and I friended up he exposed me to the scene. It was then that I realized how much I liked the music that my father and mother whom were both southerner's exposed me too. Mike knew all the music acts and he is a big Stray Cats/ Paladins fan. I dived in and started listening to the music. Mike played Harp and we got down to a hillbilly, rockabilly blues sound. Playing around the Napa Valley and some gig's in Sonoma. I had not truly vested into the true style of Rockabilly because I was also playing a lot of Delta Blues through college. And of course as a child of the sixties I was still rocking to the sounds of the musicians from the combo band revolution. I also brought with my young teen year my first experience with three years playing in a country band with some hep Kats who came from Bakersfield. So I knew the Bakersfield shuffles and sound. The classic guitar instrumentals and the pedal steel ballads. There I was, I could play seven styles of music blending into what rockabilly came from in the beginning. Thats what got my attention about Rockabilly was the guitar playing, the skill and the technique of playing complicated music an then working for the minimal simple raw sound of rockabilly music. Getting to the point here, the 20 year old Greg Gallup who is a master of all the Rockabilly Rhythms got me centered right into where I wanted to be. We started playing with different Kats and Mighty Mike. The Black Cat Bone Man had a big desire for Jump Blues Mike and I went different directions. Mike with solid vocals and harp went on to play the Jump Blues and was very successful. I still miss Mighty Mike today.
Rick Quisol whom lived here in the San Francisco Bay Area, gave me a call and was telling me about the "foreign guy" who was coming to the Hillbilly/Rockabilly Jam sessions. Rick knew we were looking for steady Stand Up Bassist. So we drove down to Richmond and got Djordje from Bart came back to the Northbay and played our first gig. The trio fused together real fast, Djordje and Greg were the old pro's in the trio. So I had homework, lots of homework. For years dyslexia kept me from being able to read music and I struggled but learned all by ear and mentoring. Working with these two kats was for me the moment in my life were I had musicians that could follow me anywhere I went musically. Usually a new group starting out has crashes and train wrecks when playing in the beginning. Not for this trio. A fast moving train on the stage. It was glue in the beginning and then it was the nucleus no doubt. I had no idea and soon learned that we had a dynamite Stand Up Slap Bassist in the band. Djordje is a prodigy and we were able to capture that and the Bluenotecat sound in the Studio. Sometimes when I close my eye's I can see this trio, so grateful to have shared the stage with these Kats! We played everywhere we could, through the good the bad and the ugly. Rumbling Drums, Smoking Slap and Screaming Guitar.... And unforgettable moments.

While The Videos are recorded by Fans capturing the moments of performances of the Trio. The quality is not super but the performances are solid... Enjoy the Kats! Fan recording in Napa California on the Big Stage Veterans Park.
This video was shot in Sonoma at the Last Days Saloon. By Wild Man Joe Cable. What is wonderful about the Bluenotecats Rendition of Texas Flood is most certainly the quality performance of Blues Style Guitar by the Gretschkat. Dalton brings his beloved Gretsch 5128 Electromatic out for the first time. Additionally there is moment in the performance where Elvis looks down on Djordje.. What Fun!
Elan joins the Bluenotecats Greg & Dalton in Chico California for a sound check the actual first recording on Very Nice. Three of our best Chico Fans came early. Keeping with Tradition the Rockabilly & Rock N' Roll is played loud! Chico was fun they paid us with 5's and 1's so I had Greg put the cash in his pockets. Dalton is playing his Gretsch 5129 Blackie which he sold for rent. La Strada's Chico. Joe Cable on Video...
Djordje is a Prodigy Musician. I have seen pictures of Djordje dragging the Big Dog Bass around the room at age 11. Here in this clip he show's us why he is the King Of Jump Jive Slap & Swing... With Hot Rod Mama as he is working the composing of his solo part live before we actually record the song 4 months later... Fan recording video.. Big Stage Napa California.
Elan Tribo joins in the fun at the Tradewinds in Cotati California for his first ever debut performance. The Tradewinds is known for its liveliness and brawny good times. Joe cameo's in the video. I did have to make a decision to censor some of the activities.. But yet Rockabilly brings out the fun times for everyone.. It is blurry but for a second you can Ron Thompson at the bar and at the end you can Mighty Mike talking with me...
When I first started the Bluenotecats I had an audition for drummers. I auditioned 19 drummers and Greg Gallup my brother Bluenotecat was number 19. At one point I was explaining to him that the song Come On Let's Go by Ritchie Valens was unique in that it was California style rockabilly and the drum style had a skip hop beat that was different from Memphis. Greg said a few times okay I know it let's go. We did and was amazed that the clouds had parted in the sky and there was this 20 year old kid whom new every Rockabilly style of drumming. Greg graduated the Jazz Performance School at Sonoma State University. As well as a profound drummer he has now accomplished the Rockabilly Slap Bass.. And I am sure Djordje had a hand in it. Greg proves his skill here in an impromptu drum solo at Ana's Cantina St. Helena California. Fan recording.
